5 Ways to Begin Your Kingdomly Rooted Journey Today

By Stephanie Cover • April 15, 2026 • 5 min read

Many people feel called to live a more biblically aligned life but don't know where to start. The good news? You don't need a complete overhaul to begin. Here are five simple practices rooted in Scripture that you can start today.

1. Begin Your Day with Gratitude

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus." (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Before reaching for your phone, take 60 seconds to thank God for three specific blessings. This simple practice reshapes your entire day.

2. Eat One Biblical Food Daily

Include one food mentioned in Scripture in each day's meals—olive oil, figs, honey, pomegranates, barley, or lentils. These foods were created intentionally by God and offer remarkable nutritional benefits your body was designed to receive.

3. Practice Sabbath Rest

God rested on the seventh day, and He commands us to do the same. Set aside one day each week to step away from work and technology. Let your body, mind, and spirit be restored in His presence.

"Be still, and know that I am God." — Psalm 46:10

4. Replace One Synthetic with Natural

Start small—swap one commercial product for a biblical alternative. Use raw honey instead of sugar, olive oil instead of processed skincare, or essential oils instead of synthetic fragrances. Your body will thank you.

5. Journal Your Journey

Keep a daily record of Scripture that speaks to you, prayers, and small wins in your biblical living journey. Looking back, you'll see how God has been guiding your transformation all along.

The Kingdomly Rooted Life Is Cultivated Daily

Remember, transformation doesn't happen overnight—it's built with small, intentional choices made consistently. Pick one of these practices to start this week, and let God guide you into deeper alignment with His design for your life.

The Daniel Fast: Ancient Wisdom for Modern Wellness

By Stephanie Cover • April 8, 2026 • 7 min read

In Daniel chapter 1, we read about four young men who refused the king's rich food and wine, instead asking for vegetables and water. After just ten days, they appeared "better and healthier than all the young men who ate the royal food" (Daniel 1:15). This ancient account holds profound wisdom for our modern lives.

What Is the Daniel Fast?

The Daniel Fast is a partial fast based on the dietary principles Daniel followed. It typically includes fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, and water—while excluding meats, dairy, refined sugars, processed foods, and beverages other than water.

The Spiritual Dimension

Unlike modern diets focused only on weight loss, the Daniel Fast is fundamentally a spiritual practice. It's about consecration—setting yourself apart to seek God more deeply. Many participants report clearer spiritual discernment, deeper prayer life, and a renewed sense of God's presence.

"But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine..." — Daniel 1:8

Physical Benefits Modern Science Confirms

Research on plant-based diets echoes what Daniel experienced thousands of years ago: reduced inflammation, improved heart health, better blood sugar regulation, enhanced mental clarity, increased energy, and natural weight balance.

How to Begin a Daniel Fast

The traditional Daniel Fast is 21 days, but you can start with shorter periods. Begin by eliminating processed foods, sugars, and meats. Then focus on fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Finally, deepen your spiritual practices alongside dietary changes.

Beyond Physical Nourishment

The most profound change during a Daniel Fast often isn't physical—it's spiritual. When we remove the noise of modern eating and return to foods God designed, we create space to hear Him more clearly.

Esther's Secret: Natural Beauty from the Inside Out

By Stephanie Cover • April 1, 2026 • 6 min read

"Six months with oil of myrrh and six months with perfumes and preparations for beautifying women" (Esther 2:12). Queen Esther underwent a full year of beauty preparation before appearing before King Xerxes. What did she use? Natural oils, spices, and botanicals—the very same ingredients that modern science now confirms as powerful skincare.

The Oils of Myrrh

Myrrh wasn't just a perfume—it was medicine. Ancient Egyptians and Israelites knew myrrh oil had extraordinary properties: rich in antioxidants that combat free radicals, supports skin regeneration and wound healing, calms irritated skin, and naturally fights bacteria.

Olive Oil — The "Oil of Gladness"

Used for anointing kings and queens, olive oil deeply moisturizes skin, provides vitamin E, and creates a natural glow. Apply to damp skin after a bath for incredible softness.

Honey — Nature's Gold

Raw honey was used as a face mask and hair treatment. Its natural enzymes gently exfoliate while its antimicrobial properties fight acne. Modern research confirms it's one of the most effective natural moisturizers.

"Pleasant words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body." — Proverbs 16:24

Frankincense — Ancient Luxury

One of the gifts brought to Jesus, frankincense oil has remarkable skin-tightening properties. A few drops mixed with a carrier oil creates a luxurious anti-aging serum.

Rose Oil — The Flower of Sharon

Mentioned throughout Song of Solomon, rose oil calms sensitive skin, reduces redness, and provides natural fragrance without synthetic chemicals.

The Inside-Out Approach

Esther's transformation wasn't just external. Her beauty came from her character—her courage, wisdom, and willingness to serve God's people. Biblical beauty begins with a heart rooted in the Lord.

When we care for ourselves with God's natural provision AND cultivate the inner beauty of the Spirit, we experience true ageless radiance.
